Tree Planting – Round Tower GAA Club – Monastery Road

We would like to bring your attention to a project that will transform the landscape of Monastery Road over the coming years.

The club has engaged with a charity, ‘Trees on the Land’ , which is a cross-border initiative working to establish young native trees across the 32 counties of Ireland. They work with groups, sports clubs and many other landowners to coordinate sites to accommodate trees. The club has reached an agreement with them for a multi annual plan to plant native trees on club lands at Monastery Road.

More details about this charity can be found on their website; Trees on the Land

The first part of the work begins this week. Clearance works to remove overgrowth, scrub, some of the laurel bushes and some of the smaller Leylandii trees at the western end of the main pitch will commence on Thursday 16th February. The material will be collected by volunteers and removed from the site.

The clearance work will enable the planting of native trees and bushes in March.

The club would like to thank Sinead Curran for the work she has done on behalf of the club with the charity to agree these works. To find out more about the project, click on the link that follows.
