Round Tower 9-3 v St Finian’s 0-0
In what was their first game of the new season, Towers U13”s went into this match with all guns blazing. Within five minutes of the throw-in, Towers were one goal up when Emma O’ Malley put the camog’s ahead, and five minutes later Martha Kirk had them two goals up. In the fourteenth minute Hannah Clarke scored a great point after some fine play and a minute later Martha, who was in flying form, had scored another goal. Soon afterwards in the seventeenth minute, Ashling Ferry bagged a fourth for Towers, and seconds later Martha completed her hat-trick, followed by another point from young O’
Malley. The girls went into the break five goals and two points to the good. Towers continued their blistering form in the second half. Within five minutes Abby had bagged another two great goals. Towers took the pressure off and as
hard as Finians tried the Towers defence were in fantastic form. The Towers midfield were working tirelessly and Caoilfhionn and Abbey were firing on all cylinders. Another Point from Emma and then two more goals from Emma rounded of a great mornings work. Towers run out in the end 9-3 v 0-0 victors points to Zero. All of the Towers players were in
fantastic form and if they keep this form up then we are in for great season for Round Towers. Their mentor Anne Derby deserves special word of praise for sticking with the girls in what is thankless job but is appreciated by all parents
Next week the young Camog’s play their arch rivals Commercials of Rathcoole in away game in what promises to be a mouth watering match. Three years going and just maybe the Towers are on the march.
