Eric Byrne reports on an excellent victory for the Under 12 hurlers v Clontarf in what was the lads toughest encounter of the year. Our lads went out to play Clontarf on Saturday and this encounter was the match of the year so far. The Clontarf boys were a very tidy unit and had their game down to a tee and pressed towers hard for most of the first half. The lads battled hard throughout and managed to keep it very close at half time only down by a point. The half-time score was Towers 1-3 v Clontarf 0-7.

The second half was a curious mix of soft frees against Towers which had the boys on tenerhooks, but they played some of the finest hurling to date to net some quick scores against the north-siders. This had the visitors on the back foot for large parts of the second half. Clontarf had a ten minute purple patch but failed to impress on the scoreboard. The mighty Towers withstood the onslaught and even picked up a few more scores and kept the sea-siders to three points in the second half. Mooneys man of the match was Joe Murray with some fine scores but more importantly he had to do a lot of legwork throughout. Worthy mention to Alex Judge who also done his fair share of the donkey work throughout. Final-score
