The sterling efforts of our Under 11s were unfortunate not to claim the points in yesterday’s league clash v Ballinteer St John’s. Well done to all involved and the young lads and ladies, who continue to proudly represent the club. Eric Byrne depicts the action in match report below and Peter Parker captures it here.
Round Tower 1-3 v Ballinteer St John’s 2-8
Cracking match yesterday in Corkagh park in Division 2 league match against Ballinteer St John’s. The blistering heat matched the pace of the game and the Gaa should be more worried about Towers lads than the ash tree disease as we broke a few hurls in this very tough encounter. The first half saw our two midfielders Dara Byrne/Sean(I just broke another hurl) Hampson dig out 50/50 ball time after time and placing the sloithar in the safe hands of Joe Murray to keep the score line ticking over. At half time towers were losing by a point. The second half saw Ciaran O’ Rourke switch to midfield as the heat was getting to the lads and he went on to earn himself a well earned Mooney’s Man of the Match, as he threw himself into the game with abandonment. As can be said in every match – but I think it was very true in this case – the rub of the green wasn’t in our favour in the end, with Ballinteer claiming the points. The lads gave it their all and their smiles at the end of the match prove that. Great support again from parents on the sideline. Towers Abú 🙂
