Towers started this game on the back of two good results and were
hoping to continue their impressive start to the season. The game was
played in extremely     cold conditions, and one wonders if it should
have been played at all, with so many of Tower’s other fixtures
scheduled for today being cancelled
.
Naomh  Pádraig started off well and in the 12th minute fired in a
great goal. Towers found it near impossible to break down the away
team’s strong  defence and suddenly they were two goals down by the
16th minute. Had it not been for the stout defending by Mia Finnegan,
Towers would surely have found it almost impossible to get back into
the game, but get back they did and in the 18th minute Ashling Ferry
scored what was a brilliant team goal, with Martha Kirk and Emma O’
Malley involved in the build-up. However, Naomh Pádraig’s tireless
attacking eventually yielded them another goal. Tower battled hard and
and Emma O’Malley gave a great display of free-taking, confidently
slotting the sliothar over the  bar when called upon. Naomh Pádraig
then began to turn the screw on the girls, finding the back of the net
for the fourth time. Some of the Towers played found  the conditions
hard going, with the freezing conditions resulting in many
substitutions. Towers never gave up, and could well have drawn level,
with  Saoirse Walsh and Criona playing well. Fiona Walsh was in  fine
form and kept it very tight at the back, but  Naomh Pádraig still
managed to find a way through as the match neared its end. Emma
O’Malley hit back with a goal for the  home team, capping off what
was a great showing in the second half by the dual  player. Towers
changed their keeper with and Angie Derby did her best, but Naomh
Pádraig closed out the match in capable fashion.

Final score: Naomh Pádraig 5-0 Round Towers 2-1
