Ladies Football division 2 League final

Round Towers 1-19

Kilmacud Crokes 2-7

Round Towers took to the pitch on Wednesday 6th October last with the taste of victory in sight. Towers have been unbeaten in the league all year and

knew this win would make them clear winners with one match remaining. The game took place in St. Finians Newcastle under lights with great support from

the Towers camp. This game was always going to be tough as Kilmacud are second in the league. Towers conceded an early goal but panic didn’t set in.

Emily Hamill at full forward got the scoring off for the Towers side notching up a few points and Towers were soon back in contention. Hannah Tyrell and

Sinead Kearns (midfield) added more scores to put Towers in front by one with the break nearing. Solid displays from Clare McGinty at corner back turned

into a nasty injury that had her leave the field early for the local VHI clinic. Just before half time Towers conceded another goal which left them two points

down at half time. After the break, Hannah Tyrell at half forward put in an inspiring performance to notch up two points. Emily Hamill followed suit and

clocked up scores of her own. Nathalie Behan at corner forward added her own point to put Towers six ahead in the game. A tough battle ensued for corner

back Eimear McGrath who was dragged all over the field but stepped up to the challenge bravely and dominated. Andrea Bowe at half back was a joy to

watch with good tackling and clever reading of the game. Emma Redmond in the goal delivered great kick outs throughout the game. Kilmacud continued to

put pressure on the back line and had a goal chance cleared off the line by Dee O’Brien in the final few minutes. With this Towers took hold of the pace

and notched up a goal to finish out the victory.
