16th September 2011:

Further to an article published in the Irish Independent this morning based on an interview with a member of the clubs Executive committee where he outlined the costs involved in bringing a family of four to the All-Ireland final, please see a statement below from Brian.

I would also like to clarify that no member of the club received more than one ticket and fully appreciate the anger among our membership that this interview may have caused.

I was asked to partake in an interview with a journalist who was writing a piece on what I was told was the costs of attending the All Ireland final for a Dublin family vs the costs for a Kerry family.

Firstly let me state that I did not request four tickets from the club nor have I received any tickets from the club for the football final.

I spoke on the broad issue of ticket prices and costs associated with following Dublin in the League and Championship.

My costings for the All Ireland were based on having attended the Hurling Final where I actually sourced 2 tickets from outside the club.

When I read the article this morning I was very aware of the upset it would cause due to its inference that I had 4 tickets secured. Let me assure you that that was not implicitly stated during the interview and my comments were based on a hypothetical scenario for a family of four.

I hope this clarifies the situation and I am looking forward to watching the match on the big screen in the Club as originally planned.

Regards,

Brian Douglas
