Towers finished up for the summer break with a five point win to continue their fine run of form and keep their promotion hopes on track.
With the Community Centre creaking under the days downpours, the match went ahead but conditions didn’t make for a classic with clean catching at a premium.
Peregrines set the early pace with fast ball into Ciaran McGuinness in the corner and went two points to one up after five minutes. Towers then went two up following two Cathal Carty points and one from Ciaran Corrigan.
Two more Ciaran McGuinness points & a Corrigan free left it 0-5 to 0-4 at the break.
Corrigan who was showing well up front score two more points and only a great save from the Peregrines keeper kept him out for a goal.
The Towers defence had gotten to grips with their markers at this stage and while the introduction of 2010 All-ireland U21 winner Robbie McGuinnes briefly threatened, Tom Lyons soon got to grips with him. Derek Murray who was having a very effective game on his 30th birthday made a great interception from a line ball and setup a chance with went wide.
Further points from Carty and Corrigan, who seemed to be struggling with a back injury, kept us ahead but Peregrines levelled the game with five to go. Indiscipline from Peregrines seemed to let them down on the home stretch but Carty & Corrigan scored a point each before Jason Joyce powered through for his fourth goal in fives games
