Towers ran out 3-10 to 1-10 winners in the end but didn’t have it all their own way. In a first half marked by Turnovers, misplaces passes and Pats wining more breaking ball, Towers trailed 1-6 to 1-3 at the break.
In a much improved second half showing, Towers got back on top with far crisper passing and were the hungrier team throughout. They scored an injury time late goal to give them a cushion but Pats had been threatening towards the end and moved Dublin Senior Hurler, Liam Rush into Full Forward to try and conjour a goal. Towers lost Mick Hallows to a black card late on. Ian Ward at centre back was man of the match. Towers now face an All Star UCD in the B Championship semi-final – date and venue TBC.
