SFC, August 28th, O’Toole Park
A late surge saw Tower’s overcome Naomh Mearnóg last Saturday at O’Toole Park to progress to the next round of the Evening Herald Dublin SFC. Towers were the better team throughout but the combination of a resilient Mearnóg side and a number of missed opportunities from Towers’s meant the game was still in the balance with a few minutes remaining. However a late penalty from Mick Hallows secured a deserved victory for team that had led throughout. Hallows was on the scorsheet in the first half along with Ian Ward, John O’Brien and Ciaran Carr and their scores helped Towers into a 0-6 to 0-4 lead at half time. Mearnóg launched a late fightback in the secong half but Hallows late penalty and a late score from Paul Clifford helped seal victory for Towers.
