Round Tower’s Under 8’s girls faced Castleknock at Somerton Park on Sunday June 15th. Thank you to Maria Shannon for match report.

Some of our girls had already faced Castleknock back in April on the Monastery Road and 19 of them togged out in the Green and White to face two Castleknock teams on their home turf.

Despite a tough defence from the home side, Towers were well able to hold their own with some brilliant hand passing, punt kicking and they were really going in for the ball, putting some of the skills they’ve been learning in training to good use.

It was also great to hear them shouting for the ball from their team-mates as well as going in for some of the high balls with great catches as well as blocking their opponent and winning the ball back and heading down the line towards goal.

The girls have really gelled together and it was obvious to see on the pitch.

There was also the “extra girl” on the side line with the travelling support and plenty of Dads up early despite it being Father’s Day.

Fantastic set of matches girls, upwards and onwards.

Our panel included: Éabha Brady, Lauren Fitzpatrick, Emma Fogarty, Abbie Fitzpatrick, Emma Gilvarry, Abbie Hollowed, Isabelle Kiernan, Hannah Kavanagh, Sadhbh Keane, Layla Lawlor, Aisling McGrattan, Fiona Jackson, Holly Redmond, Rebecca Nolan, Emma O’Brien, Amelia O’Sullivan, Ella O’Sullivan, Aoife Robertson and Muirinn Ward.
