The Meadow boys went out to the north end of the county to play O’Tooles in a classic summertime league encounter, writes Eric Byrne. Towers were captained today by Joe Murray as he was entered back into the arena for the first time since his recovery from injury.

Some fine attacks from the northsiders kept our goalie ‘Mossy’ busy, but his back line held firm with Ciaran ,’Judgy’ and Matty leading the counter attack.

The halfbacks played some excellent ball with ‘Jacko’ making some monster runs up the wings with ‘Aido’ and Adam eating up the wings throughout. The midfielders had their hands full with the opposing numbers and was a feisty battle for Alex and Dylan right to the final whistle, both of which got some fine scores to keep Towers in the race. The half forwards really kept the pressure on with great interplay between Dara, ‘Lou’ and Joe. The full forwards had some fantastic scores today with Aaron cheekily fisting two goals into the onion net. Daniel and Cian made some beautiful moves to keep our scoreline slightly ahead come the final whistle. 17 players togged out for Towers, a good showing this time of year. Final score Round Tower 5-11 v O’Tooles 5-10.
