UNDER 14 DIV 4 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

ST MARGARETS  2-8  ROUND TOWER 0-6

Report by Gerry Banks

In their first match in the 2011 season Towers went down to a stronger St.  Margarets team last Saturday afternoon. Towers started well and were leading 4pts to no score after 15mins.The points coming from Cianan Ryan, Stephen Bracken, Thomas Galvin and Conor O’Shea. Once St. Margarets got the better at midfield and half back line they dominated the rest of the half scoring 2-4 without reply. The second half was a closer affair and Towers had a great chance to close the gap when they awarded a penalty midway through the half but Stephen Bracken’s well struck shot beat the goalkeeper but stuck the upright. Towers had to finish the last 10 mins with only 14 players when Sean Curran was injured. Towers had only 15 players available, 9 were missing through injury and sickness. Best for Towers were Sean Ryan in goal who had a string of outstanding saves, Karl Byrne and Adam Doyle in defence. Everyone gave of their all but too many mistakes with ball in hand gave possession away on numerous occasions.
Team;
Sean Ryan, Sean Doran, Jordan Walsh, Karl Byrne, Sean Curran, Adam Doyle, Gavin Quinn, Dean Graham, Conor Fleming, Callum Lyons, Padraig McMemamy, Cianan Ryan (0-1), Conor O’Shea (0-3), Stephen Bracken (0-10,Thomas Galvin (0-1).
