After a disappointing week with the male section of the club, the under 13 GAA girls team
set out to keep alight some hope of bringing some silverware back to the club. With the senior ladies win still fresh,
the girls went out on Saturday to try and win their semi final against Naomh Barrog, and what a win it was. Within 15 minutes
the girls were already ahead by 6 points and they showed no signs of slowing down with the final score being Towers 7-22 to
Naomh Barrog’s 3-4. The girls have proved that they are a force to be reckoned with.We would like to congrtulate Niamh Watts for
scoring her first goal in the game.
In the last year, the girls have manage to step up there game to a very high standard, winning their Division 3 League
and now so close to wining the Division 2 Championship. This is due to a number of reasons: the fitness and skills of the whole team has
greatly improved, the squad has grown from 12 to 24, and training has become fun that’s thanks to the gaffa.
The management made up of the gaffa Mick collins and his assistants Tom Reid, Liam Ennis and Dawn O’Neill would like to
take this opportunity to wish the girls the best for next Saturday but whatever the outcome, they are winners in our eyes.
Also big thank you to all the parents and supporters who without fail are always on the side line at every match.
All the best to Sinead Collins and Amy Conroy who are trying out for the Dublin developement squad.
