Foxrock/Cabinteely 2-13
Round Towers 2-8
Date : 06/04/11
The Ladies Senior football team started their Division one league campaign on Wednesday 6th April away to Foxrock/Cabinteely. Towers were defeated by five points in a very fast paced game.
Foxrock/Cabinteely started well showing the reason they are in Division one scoring an early goal and two points. Panic set into the Towers team and remained with them throughout the match. Towers settled after the opening ten minutes and claimed scores back through Emily Hamill and Aisleen Milton. The defence were kept on their toes by the fast paced forward line, but Eimear McGrath and Geraldine McTavish held their own. Emma Redmond proved spectacular in goal producing some fine saves and accurate kick outs. Andrea Bowe worked endlessly at half back as did Clare McGinty. Towers tried to regain composure in the second half and clocked up scores through Hannah Tyrell and Nathalie Behan. The never give up attitude of all players led Towers to reduce the deficit to one point. Foxrock/Cabinteely made use of the spare woman after Nathalie Behan was sin binned, and added five points on the trot to claim the winning share. A worthwhile game that introduced Towers to Division one football.
