29 March 2013 A Chara, As you are aware a deadline of 31 March 2013 was set for membership to be paid for this year. In line with GAA regulations concerning membership, and these difficult economic times a more than generous 4 months was permitted this year to pay membership. All paid up club members will be registered with Croke Park on this deadline date as per their directives. Compared with last year and previous years we have less than half our annual subscriptions paid currently. This is completely unacceptable given the running costs of the club and yet again it’s being left to the minority to carry the majority it seems. It was agreed at Executive committee level and all members were informed that any membership subscribers after the deadline would not be afforded ‘A’ status and thus voting rights at the next AGM. This will be enforced. Any Adult players that fail to pay membership before 31 March 2013 are not covered by the insurance scheme and are not registered with Croke Park. Taking duty of care alone into consideration no such player should train or play with any team until membership has been paid in full. Mentors will be advised as to whom is a current paid member and will be expected to only use these players. The Executive committee certainly hope it doesn’t come to this and kindly ask mentors to again encourage players to pay their annual membership. Ultimately it’s the entire club that lose out because of people failing to pay membership. Membership can be paid any evening in the club rooms and renewal forms are at the bar. Due to the Bank Holiday weekend the deadline has been extended until Monday evening to accommodate people that may be away for the weekend. In light of this years delays with paying membership we will be reviewing membership procedures as a whole and a working group will be established later in the year who will report their findings and recommendations at the AGM.
