Round Towers 2-15,Civil Service 4-7.
On Monday evening the juniors hurlers travelled to Islandbridge and maintained their winning start to the league, writes John Quinlan.
Again we had good numbers with 20 lads togging out and several injured players down to add their support.
Playing against a stiff enough wind in the first half our defenders and goalie kept things tight allowing CS very little scope to build up a lead.
A goal on half time by Martin Doyle left us a point behind 1-4 to 1-3. With the wind behind us in the second we were in an excellent position despite a number of wides from good positions.
A goal from Darren Gilligan just after the restart put us in the lead and several more points put us in a commanding lead . With the clock ticking down CS managed to get a couple of goals and we suddenly found ourselves a point down with two minutes to play. Instead of panicking the lads kept battling and three late points gave us the win we deserved.
A good team performance on the day with everyone contributing and been positive on the field with Connie Ryan(until injured),Martin Sheehan, Aidan Smith and Chris Kavanagh in particular standing out .
Our next match is in the championship on Sunday v Trinity Gaels .We also have a poker classic on Sunday in the clubhouse on Sunday at6pm .
Training is probably on Thursday so hopefully everyone will make it down as we try to build on the positive start to the year.
