Round Tower Junior A Footballers registered their first league win of their campaign with a well-deserved victory away to Ballyboden. Towers imposed a supremacy from the start. Early opportunities for Davey McCarthy and Dermot Milton went a-begging before Milton converted Towers early dominance. From a Boden kick-out  that was intercepted, he cut in from the left and turned his marker before finishing low to the net. Towers were dominant in the middle. Eoghan Moore fetched and found Jason Joyce in space and he kicked successfully. Towers kicked three further wides before the home side finally got some stranglehold on the game and they kicked three without reply. But Towers response was emphatic. Good pressure led to Joyce intercepting and he released Paddy Stynes up the right. He calmly sidefooted past the keeper at his near post. An angled pass from Conán O’Broin picked Milton out on the left sideline. Under pressure he did brilliantly to retain and control and broke inside before fisting over. A third goal followed. Craig Shaaban won a Boden kick-out and Joyce supported in the half-forwards. Jason Mockler ran in behind the Boden full back line and his initial strike at goal was blocked but he struck the rebound powerfully beyond a retreating defender. On the stroke of half-time Moore found space from the 30 and successfully converted to leave the score at the break 3-4 v 0-4.

Towers sought to reiterate their dominance at the start of the second period and substitute Paul Clifford struck the opener from the left. Milton followed it up with a great strike from distance. Boden rallied and needed goals. A low strike across goalkeeper Dean Alford was palmed away. Then a half-forward broke beyond the Tower rearguard but pressure from David Chapman, Eoghan Young and Barry Finn was enough to deny and a free out for overcarrying was awarded. Boden did find the net with a low strike across Alford but Towers again responded emphatically. Mark Taylor was supported by the overlapping Joyce who drew the defender before slipping inside the Milton. He stepped inside the keeper and finished low to the net. With possession gained from the resulting kick-out, O’Broin drifted into space in the forwards and pointed. Boden kicked two and the reply from Towers was a long-range kick from Milton, with pressure from Young, Taylor and Joyce dispossessing Boden in defence. The home side rallied but Towers had the numbers withdrawn to stifle goal opportunities. Two points were kicked by the Firhouse men and the last score came from a free long-range by Milton, with Young dispossession leading to the concession of the free.
