As part of our build-up to Sunday’s All Ireland Football Final v Kerry, Round Tower is running a series of features ahead of the big clash. Today we look back at Dublin manager Jim Gavin in a gallery of images and recall the 2013 homecoming, when hundreds lined the streets of Clondalkin to welcome Sam Maguire and the Dubs to Clondalkin.
JIM GAVIN – CLONBURRIS TO DUBLIN
Thanks to Sean McNamara for providing pictures of Jim as a kid playing for Clonburris National School. In 2005, Round Tower brought together players from the 1995 Dublin All Ireland Football winning team, for a night of celebration. Thanks to Eugene Garrigan for providing pictures of the reunion. The pictures of him representing Dublin were provided kind courtesy of Sportsfile.
A LOOK BACK AT OLD PRESS CLIPPINGS FEATURING JIM
Towers supporters will recognise many past and even present players in the clippings and relive happy and disappointing memories. The clippings help underline the superb service Jim has provided to Round Tower GAA Club and Clondalkin over many years. Seán McNamara and Darren Byrne assisted in bringing clips together.
SAM MAGUIRE & THE DUBS HOMECOMING IN CLONDALKIN VILLAGE, SUNDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER 2013
Hundreds lined the streets to welcome the All Ireland Football Champions Home. Roads, pathways, poles, houses and shops were covered in blue this weekend as Round Tower GAA Club welcomed the All Ireland Football Champions and Clondalkin’s very own Jim Gavin for a very special parade.
