It is with great sadness we inform of the passing of our great friend Eugene Garrigan. Eugene has been integral within our club for over four decades, initially playing with Towers and then being a tremendous volunteer in a wide variety of roles. He played Minor and Junior Football for Towers for a number of years. He then went on to assume the role of Mentor of our Under 21 Footballers from 1993 to 2001. The St Brigid’s resident also fulfilled the role of Mentor with our Intermediate Footballers. In recent years he was a Mentor at juvenile level, and six weeks ago was out to support his Under 15 Footballers in their Championship Final against Castleknock.
Eugene also held a key influence beyond the playing pitches. He served on the Round Tower Executive as an Officer during the early nineties and mid-noughties and was also a Member of the Club’s Adult Football Committee. He was a founding Member of our Golf Society and was its first President, also serving as captain. Eugene was Chair of our Social Committee for a number of years and was an integral Member of our Lotto Committee up until his recent illness.
A keen Dublin supporter, in 2005 Eugene brought together the 1995 All Ireland winning Dublin Football Team for a reunion celebration within our club. He was particularly proud to bring our very own Jim Gavin and Paul Clifford, Members of that winning team, to the club for the unique celebratory occasion.
Ed O’Malley, Club Chairman said: “Eugene was immensely proud of this club and devoted a tremendous amount of time over 40 years to support it both on and off the playing pitches. People throughout the club knew Eugene and he will be sorely missed. We have been very proud to have him as member and to call him our friend.”

Garrigan Eugene, Clondalkin, Dublin, December 16th 2017, Irish Prison Service and Round Towers GAA, (peacefully) in the wonderful care of the staff of Our Lady’s Hospice, Harolds Cross, with his loving family present. Predeceased by his beloved parents Owen and Norah and brother Donal. Loving father of Luke. Deeply regretted by his sister Barbara, brothers Paul and Brendan, sisters in law Joan and Ann, brother in law Michael, nephews Neil, Mike, Owen and Ian, nieces Alison and Gráinne, Godfather Tom Keane, relatives and a large circle of friends.
Reposing this Monday evening from 5 to 7 o’clock at Our Lady’s Hospice, Harolds Cross. Removal Tuesday morning to The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Clondalkin, arriving for 11.30 o’clock Funeral Mass. Cremation immediately afterwards in Newland’s Cross Crematorium. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu to Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross.
