A letter from the Executive to Members

Dear Member,

We the Executive understand that this is a difficult time for many of our members and we hope that you all are coping well. While we are all probably frustrated with the restrictions placed upon us, as a club we will continue to fully support the initiatives of the HSE and the GAA and our primary focus remains on the safety of everyone in our club and indeed in the broader community of Clondalkin. It has never been more important for our players, coaches and officials to follow both the Government guidelines and our own provisions around COVID 19 safety.

You may be aware that our membership for 2021 is now open for payment and you may be asking why we are seeking membership at this time and why there has been no reduction in subscriptions. These are valid questions and the executive would like to take the opportunity to explain our rationale to all our members.

As you are well aware, we are a non- profit organisation with very little outside support and while we are in these phases of lockdown, we have little or no opportunity to generate revenue, yet the day-to-day running of Round Tower GAA Club continues:

  • We still have a mortgage on Monastery Road, in place since the purchase of the land and the development of the dressing rooms and Car Park. This long-term debt costs us over €2k each month.
  • We still have substantial affiliation fees and insurance costs.
  • Commitments related to the continued maintenance, security and upkeep of our facilities.
  • Future Development plans including a focus on Long Term Athletic Development for our Juvenile Section.
  • If we were only to take the overhead figure from our accounts of 2020, we would see that it cost us €225k in overheads for our last financial year.

What we are asking is that members pay their subscriptions as soon as feasible for you and enable us meet our day-to-day costs and prepare our facilities as best we can for the upcoming season.

While the return to play is delayed, it will happen and we are hopeful that there will be a strong club season for all teams, from league to championship, running from late springtime, through the summer and into the Autumn. Click to renew: Membership Renewal

We would also like to acknowledge the support that our members have shown to our new online Lotto. Having said that, we are asking that any member not already entered and who is in a position to support us by purchasing a weekly ticket for as a little as €2 signs up online at www.roundtower.ie

Thank you for your ongoing support.

The Executive Committee
