Reopening of Monastery walkway

We previously communicated with Members to inform of a roadmap agreed by the GAA, An Cumann Camogaíochta and the LGFA with regard to a safe return to Gaelic Games. There are a number of steps entailed in this process and the club will communicate with Members as we move towards a return of Gaelic Games.

Today we are happy to inform the walkway around our playing pitch on Monastery Road will open from Wednesday 10th June. It will be opened initially for a designated supervised period daily of three hours per day, Monday to Friday only, from 9am to 12 noon. Please be aware the walkway will be supervised during these hours. From 9am to 10am, it will be available exclusively for use by older and vulnerable people. Then from 10am to 12 noon it will be available for others to use.

People using it will be required to walk in one direction only. Guidance will be provided to the people utilising it. The walkway will be for recreational purposes only, and no groups or form of training will be permitted in our grounds. Other club facilities remain closed for now.

We ask people using the walkway and remind club Members of requirement to follow Covid-19 public health advices. Latest advices for the wider public, vulnerable persons and people who have been cocooning enable people to:

  • exercise outdoors in groups of up to 15 people – within the county you live or 20 kilometres (km) of your home, as long as you can avoid contact, practice good respiratory hygiene, keep at least 2 metres apart and do not share equipment
  • visit outdoor spaces, playgrounds and tourism sites, within your own county or 20 km from your home, where you can keep at least 2 metres apart from other people
  • not shake hands or make close contact with other people, if possible
  • wash hands properly and often
  • clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
  • meet up to 6 people indoors or outdoors for social gatherings, but keep at least 2 metres apart
  • wear face coverings in public places, such as shops, and on public transport
