Our Under 9’s girl’s team took on Cuala at home on the Monastery Road. Match report by Maria Shannon
It was a sunny, crisp morning as our girls played Cuala who had an early Sunday morning trip up the M50.
Two 20 minute matches awaited, as 29 girls togged out in the green and white, a great sight to see and brilliant numbers to match.
The girls have been really practicing getting to the ball first in training and it showed, they were pouncing on those balls, with some great sprinting and catching to get there before their opponents.
There was plenty of blocking and shielding from our defenders, who really got stuck in – winning back the ball and getting it up the field, making good use of the wings, shouting out to their midfield to make sure they caught them.
There were some fantastic attempts at goal and lots of scores from our forwards.
Well done Girls, our last match before Christmas!
A huge thanks to the mums and dads who bring the girls up to training every Thursday and are on the sidelines, encouraging the girls to keep going.
