All Ireland Preview – Pride in Jim & the Dubs

Round Tower GAA Club is immensely proud of Jim Gavin’s accomplishments in managing the Dublin Senior Footballers.  Jim has already guided Dublin to All-Ireland glory in 2013, the first year of his term, and now prepares for another Championship decider. Three successive Division 1 League Titles have also been captured, and sit alongside two Under 21 All Ireland successes he has already steered the Dubs towards during his managerial reign (2010 & 2012). Round Tower will run a series of features this week to mark the accomplishment of Clubman Jim guiding Dublin to another All Ireland Final. Today club chairman Niall Connaughton and juvenile chair Liam MacLaughlin speak of their pride in Jim’s accomplishments and his representation of Dublin and Round Tower GAA Club.
“On behalf of Round Tower GAA Club, I’m delighted to take this opportunity to wish Jim Gavin and the Dublin team the very best this coming Sunday. Round Tower GAA Club Members, supporters and the wider Clondalkin community are immensely proud of Jim’s superb achievement in guiding this Dublin team to another All-Ireland Final. Jim has enjoyed remarkable success since assuming the post of Dublin manager, and has carried himself in a very dignified, sporting and honorable manner.
“Jim has guided the Dublin Footballers to three successive league titles and it should not be overlooked the initial success he guided them to in 2013 was a first for Dublin in that competition in 20 years. He has brought great pride to this 131  year old GAA Club and the hundreds of club members who are playing Gaelic Games, coaching or supporting the games we play.  We thank Jim for his ongoing support of the club. He and the Dublin team are proving an inspiration for young members in particular.

“It is also important to recognise the role of Frank Roebuck, past player and manager of Round Tower, in the Dublin team’s success.  Frank brings his love of the game and excellent knowledge of it to the Dublin set up and we are very proud of his participation with the panel.  I wish Jim and the Dublin team the very best this coming Sunday and hope to see him return once again to the proud GAA town of Clondalkin with Sam Maguire in tow,” Níall Ó Connachtáin, Cathoirleach, Chumann an Chloigthti

“As chair of Round Tower GAA Club Juvenile Section I am very proud to extend best wishes on behalf of the Roinn na nOg to Jim Gavin, Frank Roebuck and the Dublin team in their quest to recapture the Sam Maguire Cup. The children, teenagers and mentors within our section look up to Jim and see him as a role model.

Jim has always been supportive of the club, mentors and teams right through his time as a great player and now as the Dublin manager. It is with fondness many of us can recall Jim coming along to help us with a training session or a team talk. The self-less, positive, sportsmanlike manner in which he conducts himself is an example to all our players mentors and officials.

“We take great pride in seeing someone who has worn the green and white hoops and sky blue with such distinction emerge as one of the most sucessful Dublin managers. The kids watching the game look up to the Dublin footballers as heroes. The brand of football played and skill displayed by Jim’s Dublin team generates tremendous enthusiasm amongst the hundreds of children we have learning the skills of Gaelic Games in our club. The county team serves as an inspiration to the boys and girls from four years and upwards and is attracting more people to the GAA in Clondalkin. They also make the coaching of games easier for our Mentors.Frank Roebuck, has made an enormous contribution towards the teaching of Gaelic Games in Clondalkin for many, many years and we take great pride in his important role as part of Jim’s team.

We are also very grateful to Frank for his contribution to our club as a player, mentor /manager and teacher of so many of our players who graduated from that fine academy known as Clonburris.
“There is fantastic excitement amongst the boys and girls who play Gaelic Games in Clondalkin and our Juvenile Section (Roinn na nOg) ahead of Sunday’s Final. It gives me great pleasure to say to Jim and Frank ‘Go n-éiri an t-ádh leat’ for Sunday’s game,” Liam MacLaughlin, Round Tower GAA Club Juvenile Chairman
