Round Tower 7-15 v Civil Service 1-5; Thanks to John Quinlan for report.
The junior hurlers enjoyed a comprehensive victory over Civil Service in the championship on Thursday evening in Islandbridge. Despite a few injuries and lads away we still had good numbers lining out and Wayne Brennan and Daniel Downey available again.
Playing with a strong wind in the first half we were very much on top from the start. Goals from Ruari Keogh,Fergal,Donnacha,Darren and two from Hutch, coupled with a good spread of points saw us lead 6-10 to 0-2 at half time . Some great saves from John Delaney in goals ensured that CS were not able to get any sort of revival going.
The second half saw us continue to be on top and with another goal from Philly Carroll the game ended on a 7-15 to 1-5 scoreline. Considering that we only beat CS by a few points in the league a few weeks ago this was a big improvement although CS didn’t play (or were allowed to play) well on the evening.
Ballyboden(including Tower’s legend Ray McKenna) are up next in the championship .There is no doubt that we will have to be at our best to beat them as they have been posting big victories in their games to date.
Training resumes after the bank holiday break and it’s important that everyone makes the effort to be there . With places up for grabs and the team going well it’s vital that we prepare as best we can for this game and the remainder of the season to ensure that momentum is maintained. As always new players are welcome as we build for the future.
