Round Tower 5-7 v Clontarf 1-5
The Round Towers minor ladies football team put on an impressive performance on Monday evening in Moyle Park to overcome Clontarf, writes Caitriona McGrath. The skies opened up just as the game got underway but the girls battled through and showed their potential. Amy Clifford and Sarah Jane Hecker at half forward led by example clocking up several inspiring scores each. Siobhan Ennis at centre half forward and Eve Mc Donagh at corner forward were on hand to help set up several scoring opportunities. Fifteen minutes into the game and with the sun starting to shine Towers pushed on even further with scores from Sinead Collins, Kate Marrow and Chantelle. The Towers defenders had little to do in the first half, but Eimear Coleman and Aisling Collins shone through when needed. The second half was about going through the motions but towers still added some well worked scores. Roisin Keating came out of goals and impressed with two points from half forward. Aisling Seery added a goal earned from her own hard work. The defensive players were always in control with Ciara Byrne and Muireann Ni Dhonngain playing strongly. Towers had a great start to the game, working hard and working as team to build up a lead that couldn’t be caught. An overall powerful performance by this talented group of girls.
