Round Tower GAA Club’s executive, members are delighted to congratulate Jim Gavin, Frank Roebuck and the Dublin panel for their success in claiming the All Ireland Football title. The club are honoured to have had a Member and excellent servant manage the team to three excellent honours – the All Ireland Football Championship, the Leinster Football Championship and the National Football League. Frank has played a lead role in supporting Jim and we are very proud of his role with the Dublin panel.
The excitement levels within the club and in Clondalkin in the lead up to the final reflected the immense pride within the town for Gaelic Games and Jim’s achievements. Differing groups throughout the town came together to mark his unique achievement of guiding Dublin to an All Ireland Football Final. Community groups, schools, businesses and housing estates brought out the Dublin colours to mark the occasion. The colour and excitement throughout the village reflects great local pride in his accomplishment.
There have been great celebrations in the club arising from Sunday’s victory and we’re really looking forward to welcoming Jim and Frank Roebuck back to Towers with Sam Maguire in tow. People speak with immense pride of Jim and he is a fantastic ambassador for our club, Clondalkin and the GAA. Frank has made a massive contribution towards Gaelic Games in Clondalkin for many, many years, through his development of playing talent at Clonburris National School and as a player and past manager of the club. Young and old are celebrating Dublin’s success with great enthusiasm and the excitement amongst children gives GAA a real boost. We want to harness that energy and enthusiasm by bringing more and more young people to our state-of-the-art playing facilities at Monastery Road to realise the excitement, fun and health and social benefits of playing Gaelic Games. Kids watching Sunday’s match may one day grow up to represent Dublin because of the talent they are bringing to the playing fields with Towers. This is a great opportunity for children to start playing our national games and parents can visit Monastery Road on a Saturday morning to see the immense fun children get from playing the games. Anyone who is interested can speak further with Catherine 086 8303207 or Noel 087 6567942.
We thank all Club Members who have supported us in preparing for Sunday’s clash and thank you for your patience in respect of the ticket situation.
