Dear Members, Following a number of recent car break-ins at the Monastery Road car park a security barrier was installed at considerable expense in an effort to deter any further criminal activity against our members and guests. The barrier system operates by recognising a member’s mobile telephone number and will lift/open on dial-in, the barrier automatically lifts for all vehicles exiting the site. Team mentors have been issued with a key which enables them to leave the barrier open for non-members (parents & visiting teams, etc) arriving for games or training but once the arrivals rush is over the barrier must be returned to automatic mode. Twice this week alone when we had a large number of cars in the car park the barrier has been left unattended in the open mode leaving the car park wide open to uninvited guests. It is a simple exercise and we’re asking team mentors to take responsibility for ensuring the barrier is down once games/training commence in the interests of security. Also, there is an ongoing effort to maintain and improve the landscaping and grass verges in and around the Monastery development but despite there being car parking for circa 200 cars some people insist on parking on the grass verge. This is not acceptable and we are appealing to everyone to please park in the designated car parking spaces. Mise Le Meas, ______________ Máirtín Ó Riain Rúnaí
