Match report Under 9 Girls V Ballinteer St. Johns Sunday September 13th 2015.
Just before the Under 9 girls got to show off their skills at the Round Towers Family fun day, they had an away game with Ballinteer St. Johns on Broadford Road, reports Maria Shannon.
The drizzle didn’t put them off as two 20 minute halves awaited them early on Sunday morning.
The girls had been practicing their shooting, shielding and blocking at training the previous Thursday and it paid off, with our defence in particular, really making sure the Ballinteer forwards weren’t getting the ball for scoring opportunities.
As the match went on, the Towers determination and confidence grew, with our girls really going in for the block, with some great catches and the all important scores.
September is also a time where we say hello and welcome to some new players and for them, this was their first game in a Towers jersey.
They fitted in with the girls straight away, even getting on the score sheet.
Well done girls. A huge thanks our parents as well who’re always on the side lines, cheering on the girls, giving encouragement and even supplying the “magic water” when there’s an injury.
