Under 9 girls continue their league campaign against Cuala

Round Towers Under 9 girls took on Cuala on the Monastery Road on Sunday April 26th, match report by Ken Byrne and Maria Shannon. Maria Shannon pictures can be viewed here.

It took 10 minutes for both teams to settle today, once 10 minutes passed the Towers ladies dominated this match. Impressive well worked scores in the 1st & 2nd half from Muirinn Ward & Isabelle Kiernan both hand passing over the bar to claim 3 points each.

Maria Byrne & Rebecca Nolan were busy on the right side of midfield today both taking some fine scores. Niamh Downes, Niamh Whelan pushed forward on the left side of midfield scoring some fine scores. Cuala had their chances and Riona Ni Shruthain pulled a string of saves for Towers in the number 1 jersey to deny the visitors.

While Cuala gave possession away for over carrying and holding onto the ball Aoife Robertson, Emma Fogarty, Lauren Fitzpatrick, Melissa Moseley, Tara Flynn broke up many a Cuala attack; impressive all round defensive work by Towers Ladies on display today.

Alannah Fitzmaurice is relatively new to this squad but was consistently winning possession in the inside forwards.

Emma O’Brien, Holly Redmond and Fiona Jackson stayed tight to their players, beating Cuala to the ball; breaking down many of Cuala’s attacking play.

Once again Towers parents showed great support from the touch line.
