Our Under 8 hurlers have been busy in recent weeks with a friendly match vs Faughs and a Hurling go game vs Naas. Faughs brought a strong team to Monastery Rd the Saturday of the bank holiday weekend. There was great hurling on view from both sides. The players could rise the ball and strike it from their hands which is new to most of them but they took to it very well and displayed some very good skills. After six tight matches Towers shaded the verdict but it was hard won.
On Saturday we played a very good Naas outfit in the last of our hurling go games for the year, on Monastery Road. They were as good a team as we played all year and try as we might we had to give second best on the day. Congratulations to Zach Reynolds and Sam Mulvanney who were our Players of the week.
We started in the Gormanstown tournament in January with 12 players and we now have 45 players on our books and a very enjoyable and competitive series of go games behind us. The progress throughout the year has been very good and competing with Lucan, Kilmacud and the like has certainly helped.
A big thank you to all the parents and grandparents who have brought the children along and supported us all year. A big thank you also to McKenna Construction and Braudstone Motors who have been generous with their sponsorship and have kitted the lads put very well.
Back to football next week with the last of our football go games.
