It was a busy weekend for the under 8’s with our first football Go Games against Templeogue Synge St. on Saturday and our fourth round match in The Gormanstown hurling tournament on Sunday.
On a crisp Saturday morning on Monastery road we fielded 3 teams against a strong Templeogue outfit. The lads played really well displaying some neat skills and kicking some very good scores. The opposition, having played a series of challenge matches were that bit stronger but Towers will improve for the experience and we are looking forward to Saturday next for the next instalment.
Sunday saw the helmets and hurls come out for the Gormanstown indoor tournament with a tough match against The Harps. The lads started slowly, and looked a small bit tired after Saturdays exertions. Both sides started well but the Harps made the better of their opportunities to go 2 goals ahead. Towers pulled a goal back and hurled well but the Harps made the best of their chances and surged into a 5-1 lead. This spurred the Towers into action and they dominated the last 10 minutes of the game scoring two more goals and creating a lot of good chances. The tournament so far has been a great benefit to the team and we are looking forward to next Sunday already.
A special word of thanks to the parents and supporters who came in such numbers to both games. We really appreciate your support.
