Under 21 C Football Championship, Saturday 18th November: Round Tower 5-14 v O’Tooles 5-6
Our Under 21 Footballers powered on in the second period to register a very comprehensive 5-14 v 1-6 success in the Under 21 Football Championship. The goal blitz came over a ten minute period in the opening quarter of the second half. The first arrived when Adam Clarke handpassed to the onrushing Stephen McGibney and he struck low past the advancing keeper. Aaron Soady won a kick-out and found Stephen Bracken up the right channel. He carried inside and fisted across goal for the onrushing Thomas Galvin to palm to the net. The game was finished with just under 20 minutes to play when Bracken anticipated a short O’Toole’s kickout and passed inside to Craig Shaaban who sidefooted it to the bottom left corner. Goals in the first half had arrived courtesy of Galvin and Darren Gilligan. An array of excellent point-scoring was a highlight for Towers in the second period. Galvin tormented up the left before cutting inside to split the posts; Conor Flannery kicked with the outside of the boot; Eoghan Halpin kicked from the 40; Matthew McLoughlin struck on the run; Kevin McGibney cut inside from the right and fisted from from a tight angle.
