Our 16 Boys Footballers had their last outing of the group stages of our championship group away to our near neighbours Counsel Gaels in Galtymore Road, Drimnagh. We got off to a flyer of a start with a quick goal & point to lead 1:01 – 0:02. After this we came unstuck a little and made life a lot harder for ourselves than we should have. Both teams picked away at the scores with goals galore in the first half between both sides. Counsel Gaels scored 2:07 versus our 3:04.. So it was nip tuck until the second half where the management team of Mark Hampson, Richie Brown & Richie Harney made a number of tactical substitutions as well as a formation change. This allowed the team more fluidity within the structure and from here on in we stuck 3 goals & 6 points away in a convincing win against a physical side. Counsel to their credit, stuck away a second half tally of 1:03 to bring their total for the day to 3:10. The lads done themselves very proud today and we march onto the Quarter Final Stage of the U16 Championship, with a final score of Round Towers 6:10 v Counsel Gaels 3:10.
