Under 10 Girls continue great progress

Our under 10 girls footballers carried on their campaigns against Kilmacud Crokes and St. Mary’s Saggart on Saturday April 30th, match report by Maria Shannon.

Our girls usually travel and play matches side by side but last Saturday was a different scenario for them with half the squad travelling to Stillorgan and the other half heading to Saggart. 10 girls travelled to Pairc De Burca to take on a Kilmacud Crokes side they’ve faced plenty of times. Weeks and weeks of hard training, working on various scenarios in defence, on the throw-in, targeting players for kick outs were put to the test.

However, the girls did really well, held their own and scored some great points and goals – some from as far back as the half way line.

As it’s Go Games, there are also points for skills including handpassing over the bar for a score(which there were some attempts at)and even the all-important block. These skills are just as important for good team work as scoring goals and points.

Meanwhile, our other 10 girls travelled the short trip down the N7 to Saggart where the faced St. Mary’s.
Against a team they’ve only met once, the squad did really well, keeping to their positions with plenty of fast hand passing, short punt kicks and leading up to some great game play with the scores to match.

The girls next match is scheduled for May 14th at 2pm at home against Lucan Sarsfields.

Training is every Thursday at 5.45pm – contact Ken on 087 998 3484 for more information.
