Under 10 Camógs end-of-season report

Our Under 10 Camógs report was mistakenly omitted from the Honorary Secretary report presented to the AGM last Saturday. We apologise for the omission. The report is now featured below.

Under 10 Camogie

Mentors: Angela Quinlan, Sue Kelly, Paula Swayne, James Sullivan

The team started the year with a squad of 18 players, entering two teams into the go games setup. We worked a lot this year on building up our skills. Until the summer break we took part in five camogie blitzes putting in very strong performances against stronger clubs like Naomh Uinsionn and Kilmacud Crokes. So we entered the summer break feeling very positive. After the break the mini-leagues enabled us to encourage some of the players from the under 10 girls football team (who were reluctant to play previously) to come out and try camogie. A number of them have done so and our numbers have again increased. One of the highlights for the girls was playing at the half time match of the senior camogie semi-final match in Monastery Road. They were so excited about playing and we got some positive feedback from parents and children on the day. The importance of the return of the senior camogie team to the junior section was so visible that day. It’s so important that the girls get to see the women out playing too as it give them something to aim for in the future.

This team has developed into a very strong core group of talented and dedicated players. We need to continue to increase our numbers so if ye know of any girls please encourage them to come down and give it a try.
