Great work ongoing with girls football. Maria Shannon’s match report from our Under 10’s last Saturday, 27th February, can now be read below. Well done to all involved for both teams!
Under 10 Girls face Lucan Sarsfields
This was our first away game of the league campaign versus Lucan Sarsfield. We travelled over to Lucan with a depleted squad with 8 of our usual starters missing. Three of our U9’s travelled also to help us field two teams (Shónagh, Sadhbh & Leisha); well done girls you all put in an incredible effort.
This was scheduled as the league opener (two teamer) 9 aside; we played the two 40 minute matches.
In both games the Towers Girls showed great fighting spirit from the start. The girls didn’t give an inch and every ball was contested. We didn’t have the luxury of substitutions for these games but our fitness training is paying dividends as in the second half when the opposition were starting to wane our Girls pushed on. As this is Go games no score was kept on the day but let’s just say that Towers went home happy.
Really encouraging performance Girls. Well done to all.
