Round Tower captured the under 16 league title at the Community Centre last Saturday, 9th November, in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd. St Peter’s raced into a 0-5 v 0-1 lead after 15 mins courtesy of some excellent free taking by a midfielder. Towers only reply came from the boot of Conor O’Shea. Towers had the next 3 scores: a goal from Thomas Galvin and points from Cianan Ryan and Stephen Bracken. The teams reached half-time level 1-4 to 0-7. St Peter’s had the better start to the second-half scoring with a brace of points, but from then onwards Tower’s dominated the game with Jordan Walsh, Aidan Kelly and Conor Fleming winning the midfield battle. Two penalties in quick succession from Jordan Walsh put Towers back into the lead and when Sean Ryan saved excellently from a St Peters penalty it lifted the entire team and they ran out comfortable winners in the end with scores from Stephen Bracken, Kevin McGibney and a great goal from Adam Doyle following a pinpoint pass from Aidan Kelly, who himself scored the last point of the game. This was an excellent display of football from both teams which showed that they are well capable of playing at a higher level.
