We were all looking forward to this much anticipated championship match after Towers hammered their local rivals back in May. The game started off at a furious pace as Commercials were relentless in their attack, but the Towers defence were in fine form led by Mia Finegan,Fiona Walsh, Shannon Sheridan and Croia Byrne. The Towers keeper Angie Mc Namara who has picked up some good pucking skills while on holiday in Achill and one could see the improvement in her puck outs asTowers were able to move forward in their attacks.

There was much end to end camoige with Aibí Ward and Caoilfhionn Doran, Emma O’ Malley and Saoirse Walsh spurring the team on. Doran was back to her usual tireless running which had been missing for a few games and O’ Malley was fighting to get every ball. Disaster struck in the 20th minute as Commercials lobbed the ball into the Towers box and they went one goal up. The second half was nip and tuck with some splendid play by Shannon Sheridan and Lauren Egan who kept on playing while others became tired after their summer break. Hannah Clarke sent a free into the Commercials box and Doran moved it onto Aibí Ward who slammed the sliotar into her opponents net and Towers were back level. Towers were fired up in what was an enthralling last 15 minutes, with Lauren Doyle and Lauren Davies in great form and getting stuck in. The game finished a goal a piece in what was a fair result.
