In what was a fantastic weekend for the second oldest GAA club in the state, Round Towers celebrated the opening of their state-of-the-art pitch on the Monastery Road. The club can be proud of the immense effort that went into securing these new facilities, .We are now proud to say that we have our own playing fields. The weekend was finished off by a truly amazing performance by the young under thirteen Round Tower Camog’s who travelled to Swords hoping for their first away of the season and what a win it was. Within minutes of the throw in Emma O’ Malley stuck a lovely point of the bar assisted by Lauren Doyle. Five minutes later Towers were three goals and 1 point ahead as Martha Kirk was on fire and scored a brilliant hat trick of goals with great play by the Towers midfield. Finians under pressure attacked the Towers goal but Hannah,Croia and Lauren Doyle was resolute in their defending.

Saoirse Walsh showed some great camoige skills and her hand passing was a wonder to watch for someone so young and with a great pass to O’Malley who fired the ball over the bar in the 25th minutes. Minutes later the "Chick with the Stick" Caoilfhionn Doran scored her first goal of the season and Towers were now in flying form. Seconds lately Martha Kirk fired in two brilliantly taken goals. Towers were now on fire and Hannah Clark scored a fine goal and up popped Martha Kirk for her double hat-trick and just before the first half was over Saoirse Walsh scored a goal aided by her team mates. Going into the break the Tower girls were 1-10 up.

Towers changed their team around for the second half and now growing in confidence, their individual skills flourished, there were plenty of pucks, hand passing and many long range attempts at goal. Finians snook in a goal, but try as they might they failed to scored for the rest of the match. Towers kept up the pressure with Lauren Egan putting two well taken goals passed the hapless Finians defence. Aisling Seery scored a beautifully taken point and to finish off what was a brilliant all round team performance new girl Shannon Sheridan scored a goal. There are many generations of Clondalkin families who have put their  heart and soul into this famous club and going by this young Towers team they can feel very proud of their contribution to this community and let’s hope silverware will flow in the years to come.  TOWERS ABU
