Saturday 19th May Corkagh Park saw both our under11’s hurling teams play their first competitive division 2 league match against Ballinteer St john’s.

Our first team started off to a flying start, with ourmidfield commanding most of the possession, our forwards kept the score tallyticking over nicely and with a couple of well pointed frees and 65’s that neverletting the ballinteer lads get a foothold in the first half, and although theballinteer put some fine scores on the board in the second half the towers ladsheld a sizable lead right to the endline. Round tower 11-9 Ballinteer St John’s 6-7.

 

Our second team supplied another great performance with avery tight contested first half and were very unlucky not to have scored, infairness ballinteer’s goalkeeper kept his teams scorecard clean with some excellent saves, the second half was a clashof forwards and keepers with fine saves and scores on both sides, the towerslads were narrowly beaten at the end of the day.

 

Special mention must go to Mick O’Meara U10’s lads who filledthe shortfall in numbers from various bumps and coughs. Round Towers 2-0Ballinteer St John’s 3-1. Match report by team mentors Eric Byrne, Paul Whelan
