Sam Maguire and Dublin All Ireland winner Barry Cahill were the guests of honour in Round Tower GAA Club on Saturday last. Barry took time out of his hectic schedule preparing for a Leinster Championship match with St Brigids to bring Sam along for a day aimed at the Round Tower Juvenile Section. While the rest of Barry’s All-Ireland winning teammates were visiting GAA Clubs & Hostelries in New York & Boston last week, Barry stayed behind to visit Towers and prepare for the game against Summerhill.
Hundreds of Children and their parents queued up to have their photo taken along with Barry & Sam Maguire and Barry signed photos, jersies, balls and more!. The day started with children and parents from the Round Towers Academy and as the day went on the children got older but there was nonetheless a constant queue out the door of Dublin’s oldest GAA Club
This is the first in what will hopefully be a series of visits to Round Towers and more details will follow. Round Towers would like to thank Barry Cahill for obliging them with the visit and his charm and patience has won him an army of new fans and also to the volunteers in Round Towers who assisted on the day, especially Noel Kelly, Catherine Moran, Betty Ward, Jessica O’Malley, Sally Gilligan & Niall Connaughton.
Check out this weeks Clondalkin Echo out 17th November where the visit features on the front page plus a full page of pictures and also the Clondalkin Gazette which has a full page of pictures too.
