The sun was shining on Monastery Road on Sunday 04th May when our U8 Girl Footballers faced Ballinteer St. Johns. Team mentor Ken Byrne provides the following report and Ted Keane’s pictures from the match can be viewed here.

This was the Round Towers U8 Girls 3rd set of go-games and it was the first time they faced Ballinteer St Johns. In preparation for this game the girls had been training well as a squad of 29; focusing on the crouch lift, hand pass and punt kick. They brought these skills to the field of play today and played well throughout the 40 minutes of football.  For some of the squad it was their first time playing a match and it didn’t seem to faze them at all.

Ballinteer St. Johns are a strong side and they challenged our Girls in every position on the pitch. Our Girls responded well and showed the spirit of Round Towers with fantastic work rate and commitment. This team has a good balance with the girls showing that they can apply their skills in all areas of the pitch.

The Girls are improving week after week. Keep up the practise Girls!

Towers had a squad of 20 available for today’s fixtures. Two teams of 8 where fielded with 2 subs. All the Girls got plenty of playing time.
