Round Tower 2-7 v Lucan Sarsfields 2-11

On Wednesday 23rd April Towers Minors were defeated by Lucan in the community centre. Towers started well with a goal from Aaron Soady after a strong run from midfield but Lucan replied immediately with a goal of their own. The rest of the first half was evenly fought the score at half time being 2-4 apiece, with Craig Shabaan scoring the second from close range after the ball broke loose. Towers other points came from the boot of Adam Clarke and Thomas Galvin. Lucan were the better team in the second half despite Towers having plenty of possession but the final pass went astray on too many occasions. Towers only managed 3 points in this half – 2 from Thomas Talvin and a fine score from Aaron Whelan.

Round Tower 5-11 v Crumlin 3-9

Played on Sunday morning in Pearse Park  in perfect conditions and an immaculate pitch Towers finally saw off a gallant Crumlin side by scoring 2-4 in the last 10 minutes. Towers started superbly and were 1-4 to no score after 10 mins with the goal coming from Conor Fleming, but were guilty of complacency for the rest of the half allowing Crumlin back into the game. Crumlin’s counter attacking play was causing Towers plenty of problems and by half time the lead was only 4 points 2-5 v 1-4, with Towers second goal coming from Chris Brazil.  The second-half continued in the same vein and Crumlin hit a purple patch midway through the half by scoring two goals to give them a two point lead entering the last 10 minutes. Only for some outstanding saves from Eoghan Heffernan and great defending by Karl Byrne Towers would have been in serious difficulty. However Towers rallied and a goal from a penalty by Thomas Talvin and a well taken goal by David Delaney sealed Towers victory.
