Round Tower honors Eugene Garrigan

Last Friday, 12th August, we were delighted to honor one of the great friend’s of Round Tower GAA Club. To mark 40 years of involvement with the club in a playing, mentor, administrative and voluntary capacity, Eugene Garrigan was honored by the Round Tower community. A tour of Croke Park was hosted for Eugene, encompassing the dressing rooms and museum that informs of the rich history of the GAA. He was greeted by GAA Director General Páraic Duffy and legendary commentator Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh.   Our very own Jim Gavin presented Eugene with the Dublin top he’d worn on the sideline during last years All Ireland Football Final when Dublin defeated Kerry. Eugene was also presented with a Round Tower jersey with 40 on the back, to signify his 40 years of involvement with Round Tower GAA Club. Post Croke Park, the party retired to the club, where Eugene was presented with an old team photo and of a presentation made to him in 1984 to coincide with the centenary of the club. It was a terrific occasion to honor one of our finest servants and a great friend.
