Towers bid to qualify for the knockout stages of the Minor B Championship received a setback when they beaten by a strong Ballinteer side in the Community Centre last Sunday morning.

Towers trailed from the start and despite their best efforts were unable to claw back the early lead that the visitors built up

Behind by 0-11 to 0-6 at half time, Towers fought hard for the elusive goal, but unfortunately it never arrived despite the best efforts of the Towers front six.  When Stephen Bracken’s effort for a point came back off the upright and the rebound just eluded Thomas Galvin in the first attack of the second half one sensed it was not going to be Towers day.

Jordan walsh was outstanding at Full back and there were other notable performances from Kevin Ryan, Karl Byrne & Aaron Whelan, while in the forwards Thomas Galvin  and Stephen bracken showed well and continued the fine form they’ve shown all season.

Towers can still qualify for the semi-final should they win their last two games and other results go their way.

Next up is Naomh Fionnbarra away on 26th  October

Round Towers: Eoghan Heffernan, Kevin Ryan, Jordan Walsh, Dean Graham, Aidan Kelly, Aaron Whelan, Padraig Fitzpatrick, Craig Shabaan, Aaron Soady, Conor Fleming, Kevin McGibney(0-1), Karl Byrne, Thomas Galvin (0-6), Adam Doyle(0-1), Stephen Bracken(0-2).  Subs used: Adam Clarke for Conor Fleming, Conor O’Shea for Karl Byrne, Declan Martin for Kevin Ryan

In other news, Towers Senior Hurlers romped to the Division Four league title at the weekend, relegating St Marks to Division five in the process. They were far too strong for Division four this year having won every game by a big margin, and will have high hope of promotion to Division two in 2015.

Willie Kennedy’s Junior A Footballers also secured the Division Eight league title last night at home to Scoil Ui Chonaill under lights on Monastery Road. Having been unbeaten all year in league action it was a just reward for an excellent team and goes some way to make up for the dissapointment of missing out on the Junior C Championhip last month.
