Under 10 Girls Footballers

Our under 10 girls continued their league campaign at home on Saturday March 13th at the Community Centre.

This was the second game of our league campaign at home to our neighbours from Thomas Davis. It was also the girl’s first home game on grass, getting used to the bigger and wider pitches but the fitness training they’ve been doing every Thursday night is really paying off.

As it was grass, it took the girls a few minutes to settle down, get used to the way the ball bounced and landed during kick outs but once they did they were flying, with points and goals scored.

We watched some fast hand passing, something they had been practicing at training just a few evenings before Saturday’s match, sometimes they got scores from it, sometimes the breeze just sent them wide.

We were missing some of our squad on Saturday – but two under 9’s, Shonagh and Sadhbh stepped in to give us a hand.

The girls had great support from the sidelines from their parents, who’re always an encouraging voice for all the squad and their team-mate Riona Ni Shruthain.

Riona recently broke her arm but we hope to see her togging out in the green and white soon.

As it’s Go Games, no score was kept but the girls went home happy, if a little tired.

Fantastic performance girls – onwards and upwards

Training will resume Thursday at 5.45 on the Monastery Road. New players welcome, for more details call Ken on 087 9983484
