Minor Hurlers end-of-season report

Our Minor Hurlers end-of-season report was mistakenly omitted from our Honorary Secretary’s report presented to the AGM last Saturday. We apologise for the omission. The report is now featured below.

Minor Hurling

Mentors: Keith Murray, Paul Whelan, Billy O Connor and Mick Jordan.

League: AHL 4 (First) League Winners

Championship: B Championship Div 2

Sponsor: Mooney’s Long Mile Road

A very strong year for our minor hurlers in the league culminating in a Div 4 League win and promotion to Div 3 next season. This season we mainly concentrated on up skilling and implementing new ways of playing the game of hurling. The championship was a hugh step up for the lads as we were playing up two divisions due to strong league win, but this allowed us to see what is a head of us next season and the level we still need to reach.

Next season should be very strong at minor hurling level as we have a very strong U16 side coming through and with some of them playing with us this year it shows that our juvenile section is developing some strong players. One of the highlights this year for our minor section was the inclusion of both Joe Murray and Alex O Neill to the Dublin County Minor Hurling squad. This was a very proud moment for the club and families involved and was a first to have two players from the same club team on the county team.

From the level of play and commitment shown this year it won’t be the last time we will see more players representing their club at county level. Our goal for next year is to guide these committed bunch of lads to more success and hopefully win another league title and compete strongly to try and capture that elusive championship.

Again, a big thanks to the management team, the players and to all who came out to support us during the season.
