Under 9 girls v Kilmacud Crokes

Our Under 9’s girl’s team travelled to Silverpark to take on Kilmacud Crokes, Match report by Maria Shannon

It was an early start for our girls as we headed down the M50 to face a team they’ve met a number of times this year this year.

Two 20 minute matches greeted them when we arrived at Silverpark on the foothills of the Dublin mountains.

The 9.30am meet up may have put off the mammies and daddies but the girls took it in their stride, remembering their positions and marking their players.

There was plenty of blocking and shielding from our defenders, who really got stuck in – winning back the ball and getting it up the field to our forwards who made some fantastic attempts at goal and getting those important scores.

As the matches went on, so did the confidence of our players, with everyone playing out of their skins to keep their opponents away from scoring.

A big welcome to our newest team members; Michelle Kennedy and Saoirse Pollard who togged out in the green and white for the first time. Hope you enjoyed your first of many games for Towers.

Another thanks to the mums and dads who got up a little earlier than normal to meet up at Monastery and travel in convoy to Leopardstown – they’re always the extra person on the sideline and full of encouragement.

The squad trains every Thursday evening at 5.45pm – for more information, contact Ken Byrne on 087 998 3484
