Under 8 Camogie Blitz

The under 8 Camogie team were back in Monastery Road on Sunday morning to play a blitz against Faughs and St Kevin’s. With a number of players missing due to the Holy Communions and injuries (wishing  Caoimhe Rafferty a speedy recovery from a broken wrist-not caused from playing camogie!);  we thought Towers might be under a little bit of pressure. But to not to be with ten players lining out including three girls (Kate, Grace and Lya) making their debut. First up was Faughs where we had a great ding dong battle with Veeka Kelly scoring a great goal but we were just pipped at the post with a last second goal. The girls didn’t drop their heads and went into the second match determined to get a result. A second Faughs team was up next and again there was very little between the teams. A well-deserved goal from Laoise Brennan saw the game end in a draw. Finally St Kevin’s were our last match, it was a great all round team performance and we just edged it in the end.  The girls have made great improvement since their first blitz in March (when we played the same teams) and the future is looking very bright with a good few of the girls still under 8 next year. Special mention goes to Tara Kelly who made miraculous three week recovery from a broken wrist to line out today (must be something in the Clondalkin water)!  Big thanks to all the parents, siblings and supporters on the sidelines who cheered the girls on all the way.

Team: Imogen Sullivan, Kitty Quinlan, Laoise Brennan, Veeka Kelly, Carly Egan, Katie Manning, Grace Keegan, Kate Rogers, Lya McKenna and Tara Kelly.

Camogie training continues on Wednesday at 4.30pm in Moyle Park. See you all there. New players always welcome.
